31 Aug 7 lives without you
La Mercè Cultural Center
Saturday, August 31
A tale of 7 lives told in the key of love. The story follows the journey from beginning to end of two unfulfilled souls. Like a fall in a dream where you never seem to land, the two characters are drowning in the desperate struggles each new life seems to bring. Their determination to remain as one, paired with their unwavering love for each other stands tall as a testament to their raw connection, leading them blindly toward their end. Finding the one in a pool of swarming others, only to see it vanish, sets in motion the sequence of lives where both have to, and ultimately want to endure excruciating déjà vu just for a glimpse of that feeling. The hunger for happiness. For togetherness. For us. The prophetic 7 depicts just that, fulfillment despite any obstacle, danger or death. Completion through love.
Brief history of the group
During communism, Thespis Student Theater (founded in 1965) was one of the few youth theaters to fight against communism through culture. Following the 1989 Revolution, Thespis Theater continues to present dramas that touch on delicate subjects like politics, human rights, and the environment; but also classical texts of universal dramaturgy (Camus, Shakespeare etc.) and absurd dramas and comedies (Eugene Ionesco, Beckett etc.). The repertoire also includes dance-theater shows and non-verbal theater pieces. Our youth theater is formed of young students at the local universities, along with alumni who remained in the group after graduating, forming a great family connected by the same passion. Many of the shows were presented and received awards at international theater festivals: The Netherlands, France, Belgium, etc.
