27 Aug La piedra oscura
Saturday 29th August
Girona Municipal Theatre, 19:30 h
The action takes place on August 18, 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. A very young Nationalist soldier watches a lieutenant from the Republican army in a hospital room in the province of Santander. These are moments of trust, emotions, final wishes and assignments. The lieutenant is Rafael Rodríguez Rapún, Federico García Lorca’s last lover, who recalls his relationship with the poet.
Brief history of the group
El Barracón is an amateur group that belongs to the FETAM (Federación de Teatro Aficionado de Madrid) and, as a university group from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, to the FETU (Federación Española de Teatro Universitario), of which it is founding-member.
The name of the group pays homage to La Barraca, Federico García Lorca’s university company. They have performed more than 25 shows: In the burning darkness and The double-case history of Doctor Valmy (Buero Vallejo), Life is a dream (Calderón de la Barca), Death squad (Sastre), M. Ibrahim and the flowers of the Koran (Schmitt), Voyage to nowhere and Bicycles are for the summer (Fernán Gómez) and The dark stone (Conejero), among others.
It is the most awarded theatre group at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with over two hundred awards. With La piedra oscura, they received more than seventy distinctions in the categories of show, director, performers, music, scenography and lighting.
