31 Aug Mare nostro
Saturday, August 31
Courtyard of the Casa de Cultura, 22:00 h
“At any latitude, we are part of the same community. Every man, every woman, every child on this planet, wherever they were born and live, has the right to life and dignity”. MARE NOSTRO is born at the present time, marked by conflicts, violence and atrocities. We are going through a crisis where man is stuck in a mechanism of dehumanization. In the world now, there are more countries at war than at peace. But everywhere, the effects of these wars are felt. A part of humanity flees, crosses seas and borders, while the other part defends itself, builds walls to stop the wave of desperate people. MARE NOSTRO sounds like a prayer, a sea that is a border but also a road that connects. With this project, we tried to put ourselves in the position of those who drown, who blow themselves up inside of theaters, inside airports; but also in the position of those who die in those places. One of our goals is to make an invitation to stay human, as our only salvation: “Stay human, even when humanity seems lost around us.”
