Ding! Dong!

After exploring some very dramatic texts last year, La Funcional Teatre wanted to have fun and entertain you. That is why the theatre company wanted to return to classic vaudeville and, twenty-eight years after having presented Un barret de palla d’Itàlia (‘A Straw Hat from Italy’) by Eugène Labiche, is now performing Le Dindon by Georges Feydeau with the title Ding! Dong!, adapted into Catalan. This work presents a frenetic and festive portrayal of the characters’ failed attempts at seduction, and the chaos they cause. With Ding! Dong! you will find former lovers, new suitors, indignant wives… who unexpectedly arrive at the home of Vatelin, the husband of the faithful Lucienne who, in turn, is the focus of the clumsy Rédillon and the seductive Pontagnac’s attentions! In addition, you will find two wives who join forces to take revenge on husbands who are completely incapable of cheating on them. You will witness a triumphant role reversal: men here are mere sexual objects used by women to take revenge. Each situation is more incredible than the one before, and they keep coming! But this work is much more than a simple vaudeville: it delves into the twists and turns of madness and constantly undermines reality, which is full of errors, misunderstandings and deceptions. All tied together with a vibrant, sharp, witty and incisive language.

La Funcional Teatre was founded thirty-five years ago in the city of Figueres and, from the outset, it has been linked to the Casino Menestral Figuerenc. Throughout its career, it has presented more than forty shows and currently brings together more than fifty people.
