Medea, Antigone, and Lysistrata, three ancient Greek perspectives on women. About an anti-heroine, Medea, perhaps the most famous matricide in the history of theater, and two heroines. Antigone, who pushes the demand for a decent burial for everyone to the very end; and Lysistrata, an empowered, anti-war, and feminist leader. All three disrupt and change their lives and those of those around them. Euripides, Sophocles, and Aristophanes wrote them more than two thousand years ago. We are convinced, however, that whether you are discovering them for the first time or revisiting them after having seen or read them at some point in your life, you will not find any traces of the ancients. That is what classical bonds have: the validity and resilience of the stories and the emotions that are concocted. After forty years of theater, especially creation and a certain respect for the text in verse (Lorca, Shakespeare, Pau Miró… have been a few exceptions), El Mirall delves into the most ancient roots of theater with this show: Greek tragedies and comedies. May joy and discovery be favorable to you. And may the gods of Olympus accompany you on your journey.

El Mirall

El Mirall Theater Group is a collective that began its activity in the 1985-1986 school year at the J. Ruyra Public School (La Vila) in Blanes (Girona) in a workshop taught by Josep Alum with the aim of fostering a love and understanding of theatrical art in children and young people from a contemporary and creative perspective. The group’s activity has focused on four areas:
1. Educational action: in schools and secondary schools in Blanes
2. Production of shows: Over its 40-year history, we have produced more than fifty shows, most of them our own creations.
3. Continuing training of the group: In various theater schools in Barcelona (La Casona, Sala Beckett) and Girona (El Gallinero). Also bringing experts in various techniques to Blanes: Ferran Frauca, Martí Torras, Ester Nadal, Cristina Cervià, Marc Rosich, Ferran Joanmiquel, Roberto G. Alonso, Lluís Colom…
4. Performances: The group has performed in many cities in Catalonia and also in Spain: Mislata, Utiel (Valencia), Alcora (Castelló), Madrid, Mora (Toledo), Irún (Basque Country), Caspe (Aragón), Mérida (Extremadura).
