Othello is a senior military officer who has recently married the young and beautiful Desdemona. His subordinate Iago, seeking revenge because Othello did not promote him, makes him believe that Desdemona is unfaithful to him. Blinded by rage, Othello kills Desdemona, only to discover the truth afterwards. This play deals with manipulation, lies, deceit, and betrayal. In such an environment, honest and honourable people become a thing of the past.

Theatre of the Cultural Centre of Anykščiai

The history of the Theatre of the Cultural Centre of Anykščiai began in 1947 with a theatre group that met near the town’s cultural center. Since then, more than fifteen directors have passed through this theatre until the arrival in 2013 of Jonas Buziliauskas, who currently holds the position.
