Sweet Addictions is a contemporary physical theatre show that explores the fragile boundary between freedom and dependency in a fast-changing world. The work invites the audience to embark on a metaphorical boat drifting aimlessly through a sea of addictions —from digital immersion and bodily transformation to obsessive self-optimization— in search of clarity and inner balance.

Developed from collective creation and personal testimonies, the work reveals the emotional layers behind behavioral dependencies. Directed by Maria Fokina Rakotonarivo, it combines drama and irony, avoiding moral judgment while opening a space for reflection. Drawing on the expressive power of the body, Sweet Addictions offers an honest scenic experience of universal scope.

The show has won multiple distinctions, including a jury award for best show in Egypt, best cast in Canada, and best international show in Italy.

The Theatre Studio BELOE company was founded in 2015 in Switzerland by director Maria Fokina Rakotonarivo. It creates innovative, physical shows and actively collaborates with cultural institutions in Geneva and Zurich to promote theatre as a space for dialogue and public participation.

BELOE has participated in international festivals such as FITAG and aactWorldFest (USA) and other festivals in Europe, Africa, and North America, where it has received awards for best performance, best actors, and best music. These experiences reflect the company’s strong commitment to cultural exchange and international collaboration.

The company follows a collective, non-hierarchical working process in which each performer contributes equally to the creation. BELOE’s mission is to unlock the actor’s creative potential through the body, emotion, and presence to drive authentic, intimate, and transformative theatre.
